Hooray for Garter Stitch!

The Garter Stitch Cardigan is coming along! I had forgotten what a fun knit it is. Despite all the garter stitch (nice and mindless, just what I need), there is a lot of interesting shaping.

Finishing up the right front, have the left front to go. Next is knitting the band that goes along the inside edges and around the neck, and the bands at the sleeve edges. Yay!

I am totally delighted with a new cast on I tried. It's a crochet cast on to mimic the bind off. As long as I can do it as loosely as what you see there. It leaves a very nice finished edge and I am very happy with it. (It shows the WS in the first picture above, so ignore that edging. This is how it looks on the RS).

I'm off to browse Sundara's yarn shop. I mean knit. I'm off to knit.

Hooray for Knitting!

At last, something to knit! This is a simple Garter Stitch Cardigan from Simple Knits for Cherished Babies by Erika Knight. A friend is expecting a baby in 2 weeks so I gotta get cracking. The yarn is Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in Sage.

And lookee what came in the mail. I am seriously having a love affair with Sundara's yarn shop. This is Mint Over Yellow sock yarn.

And this is Cedar. Just love it. She updates her shop (just about) every Monday at 2pm Seattle time which is 5pm NYC time.

A Bump in the Road

I don't feel like working on any of this stuff. Orangina, potentially too small. Trekking socks, not digging the pattern, think I need to go down in needle size or just plain knit. Calla Lily, I think I accidentally made the first sock too short in the foot. It was a different type of heel, so I am not sure how it is supposed to fit, and therefore, I may have cut it short. So do I make the second one short and leave it at that? Probably.

I have no idea what I want to knit. Thinking about starting some holiday gifts, though a couple of babies are coming very soon. Maybe it's this hot weather...

As for the terrace, I have no idea what is going on out there and I kinda like it that way!

I Want a Garden

Reverse-Bloom Flower Washcloths are done! These are a thank you gift for hunky boyfriend's mom and will go in the mail today. She would probably like the chenille version, but I don't have any cotton chenille. If she likes these, maybe I'll make more for Christmas... (I used Mission Falls cotton, us7 needles)

Still no flowers out on the terrace. Finally after 5 weeks of nothing, they chopped up part of the cement yesterday. Of course, they do this the day after we finally win the battle with the blocked door. Management told me that I could expect this project to be done in about a month from now, as long as it doesn't rain.

Time Flies

After the holiday, the week seemed short, and I realized that I haven't updated my blog since Sunday. Last night I had a dream that I was traveling to some house to meet up with fellow knitting bloggers. In my dream I met Allison - I knew it was her because I recognized her coffee table (?) and I met AquaKnits whom I recognized because of her nail polish (?). Does this make me odd?

So between dreaming of you all, I have been making progress on some projects, some more than others. Like my gamp up there... I am finally on the variations, but there is another half a page of treddlings to try beyond the page shown there. I'm only managing to get 4-6" done at a time, which in the weaving world means that I am just not sitting for very long. So it's my own dang fault that I am still working on this project.

Of course, a Petals Collection Knitalong was started, and that just got me that much more excited to knit these socks. The pattern is a breeze, the yarn yummy and the colors fascinating. These are colors I would never otherwise choose so I am totally enchanted.

So much so that I had to order more yarn. I kind of wish I had gone for brighter colors, though this is so lovely. Sundara's site is updated again on Monday...

I decided to start another washcloth, but slow going.

And last but not least, Orangina has been resting. I miss working on it and as long as I get my Project Knitaway challenge done, I plan on working on this more this week...

In other news...Hunky Boyfriend was able to knock the board out of our terrace door so we have our terrace back. Of course, I came home later today to find it nailed back in again. The frustration makes me batty.

Trekking At Last

Finally, I Trek!

Color 105 and I enjoyed a little walk up to Carl Schurz Park. Here we are taking in a view of the Triboro Bridge from the East River.

Taking a break from the crazy humidity. (Chevron Socks from Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch) Fraternal socks, hooray!

I enjoyed some pretty flowers.

The socks did, too.

To head home, we decide to walk south along the river and cross over the FDR. It was a lovely, though short trek. More to come...
